Dangerous coding errors revealed

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

The US National Security Agency has helped put together a list of the world’s most dangerous coding mistakes. - May i know why the agent of NSA is supposted to do this ? i believe, he doesnt have any idea about coding and now, he has released out some list. I bet that every single person who is into coding for more than 2y can create better list.

So this list is not for coders. I bet every single person who can use google can find better help than this.

So this list is not for internet savvy people. I bet everyone who is looking for coding help at bbc news is idiot, But wait, this list is not for idiots because its too hard for them. So .. this list is for .. nobody. nice indeed.

Sometimes, just sometimes i am really sorry for such a waste of bw ( for example when you are downloading demo’s of games ) but today, i am sorry for 10kb of my bandwidth which got wasted on this article …

How to process 300 million transactions on a daily basis

Monday, December 1st, 2008

I found nice video. They are happy to tell the world that they can process 300 million transactions per day. So what?

from wiki :

Effective MIPS speeds are highly dependent on the programming language used. The Whetstone Report has a table showing MWIPS speeds of PCs via early interpreters and compilers up to modern languages. The first compiler was for BASIC (1982) when a 4.8 MHz 8088/87 CPU obtained 0.01 MWIPS. Results on a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (1 CPU 2007) vary from 9.7 MWIPS using BASIC Interpreter, 59 MWIPS via BASIC Compiler, 347 MWIPS using 1987 Fortran, 1534 MWIPS through HTML/Java to 2403 MWIPS using a modern C/C++ compiler. Source code, pre-compiled versions and results on PCs, for these and other benchmarks that measure MIPS, are available from Roy Longbottom’s PC Benchmark Collection (Free).

So, normal computer can do 9.7 millions of instructions per second. One transaction might be … lets say 1000-1500 instructions. So, they are happy that they can handle 300 million per day -> which is … 1/999 of what can one single computer handle . And they have hundreds of servers.I rest my case. Fooling non-IT people is so easy.

Which celebrity will serve mammoth meat at her/his party as first ?

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

long story short, some explorers found mammoth pubes and scientist told us they can clone mammoths and make them alive once again.  … So we can kill them again.

Mammoths are not dangerous. They are just some stupid big animals which will stare at you and wait till you shoot them with shotgun. But this is going to end up with dinosaurs. I can see it now, we will have Jurassic park. One big storm and all the T-rexes will be free. Then, there will be fun. People are just stupid. They saw it in movies with catastrophic endings, and they still keep doing it. We just deserve to be extinct.

But hey, i still wonder, does mammoth meat taste like the elephant ?

Game review : NFS Undercover!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

So, i saw some hush there. There is NEW NFS game. Few years ago, i can remember good times of nfs3. That was godlike game. Racing racing racing and some racing. Today i saw trailer for need for speed: undercover. There were like 100 seconds of talking and maybe 15 seconds of racing. I am little bit lost there. It is racing game or some kind of adventure ? I guess its nice to have half naked chick somewhere there but … nfs should be about racing. So now, just from trailer, i can rank it. ( Well, why not, i am bitching about news that i didn’t even read so why shouldn’t i rate game which i haven’t even played ? ). I rank it … 3/10 . 1 Because its nfs, 1 because of hot chick, 1 because they are back in street with cops again!

Google voice still not on iPhone

Monday, November 17th, 2008

I think that there is no one on this planet who didn’t hear about the ultra cool google superuberleet voice commanding on iphone.  But this brings me to 2 points. A) Why should someone care ? Statistically, no one use iphone ( small percentage, [i use it and love it but still..]), and most importantly B) Stupidity of software producers. This is little bit … strange, they spend months developing new app, and THEN they ask APPLE if they can distribute this kind of app. Same story with iGo. They have the app ready for over year, but still waiting for YES from apple (which they will never get). Please, use brain and next time promise new app just AFTER apple say YES to you. Either way .. i don’t want to spend half of my precious day with reading about google cool new feature which will be most probably never released.

Booooring Friday

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Well, what to say, absolutely nothing significant happened. Usa is paying billions of dollars because some people are just too stupid to not build their house in middle of forest. Some people cured AIDS so if you have tons of money you might be save ( btw i saw this curing method in south park long time ago so … ). Oh yeah, and obama is hurting my balls again :/. It didn’t worked with Palin who is much more sexy so why he think that it will work with Ms. Clinton …

AMD Lays Out Plans For Netbooks, 32nm Chips

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

I’ve almost laughed my ass off when i found out that AMD Lays Out Plans For Netbooks, 32nm Chips .

Maybe title isn’t funny, but the message is. Well, maybe they have cool technology ( gpu and cpu on one chip ‘n shit) but … they are planing to release it in 2011. That’s like 3 years in future. My notebook will have 18ghz and 5tb hard drive and will be powered by cold fusion battery or something by then. God dammit AMD, yesterday was already late for going into netbook market. Maybe you will have everything on one chip but shitty, intel and nvidia will gain some experience and they will have 100x better chips than you could ever imagine. Oh yeah, and last hint : they are called netbooks because they doesn’t need graphic card. No one play games on them and no one watch hd video on them ( on 10 inch screen ? are you fucking kidding me ? ).
